Biography

Melanie Culhane is an American lyric soprano that hails from the American south. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, where she works as the Executive Coordinator and Managing Editor of The Voice Foundation, a piano and voice teacher at New Groove Music Studio, and is employed as a Section Leader of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Germantown. Melanie earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Temple University and graduated in May of 2020. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi in 2017

Melanie Culhane has had ample stage experience and has performed as a sacred soloist. Most recently, Melanie participated in Russian Opera Workshop's ONLINE workshop where she studied Tatyana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Francesca in Rachmaninoff's Francesca da Rimini, and Juliet in Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet scena. She also performed with Delaware Valley Opera in their production of Liebovar for the Philadelphia 2022 Fringe Festival. Highlights from previous seasons include the principal role of Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore at Temple University, Madga (cover) in Puccini's La rondine at Chicago Summer Opera, Melanto in Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria at Temple University, Nella in Gianni Schicchi at Red River Lyric Opera, Nancy in Albert Herring at the University of Mississippi, and La princesse and La bergére in the University of Mississippi Opera Theatre’s full-scale production of L’enfant et les sortilèges. Melanie has also been chosen to participate in Druid City Opera Workshop, Miami Music Festival, Musiktheater Bavaria Opera Workshop, and The Living Music Institute during her singing tenure.
